Sri Siam Restaurant - SS2

Have not been to Bangkok for close to 5 months now and been craving for Thai food. Today, as we were driving past SS2, I saw Sri Siam back in business next to the old shop and I told my hubby that tonight's dinner will be at Sri Siam.

Sri Siam is now located at No. 56, SS2/24, 47300 Petaling Jaya....still the typical neighbourhood restaurant with minimal decor.

We ordered mixed seafood tom yam, "pla jaramed three tastes" and "four heavenly king" to go with white rice.

Mixed Seafood Tom Yam
The mixed seafood tom yam was great with rice but a little on the salty side. My hubby and I finished the tom yam soup despite the saltiness :)

Pla Jaramed Three Tastes
The "pla jaramed three tastes" is deep fried siakap with sweet, sour and spicy sauce. The siakap is very fresh and crispy. My favourite dish for the night.

Four heavenly King
The "four heavenly king" is petai, brinjal, long beans and four angled beans cooked with sambal belacan. It is "heavenly" as the name suggested.

Both my hubby and I enjoyed our dinner but I must still make sure I eat authentic Thai food next week when I'm on transit in Bangkok.

King Crab Restaurant - Kelana Jaya

The Ong family gathered at Restaurant King Crab for duanwu festival dinner. This place used to be Bibi's favourite but since we found Perlama Seafood restaurant, we seldom come back. Today, we choose to come back because duanwu festival is on Monday and everyone's working. It will be too late to drive to Perlama after work.

We had...stir fried baby kailan which was quite nice. The leafy veg is to my liking as it's crunchy and not too oily.

Pork ribs....this dish was not that great. Too much fat.

Mango chicken was great. I like the sour taste. Very refreshing and appetizing.

Two types of crabs, "kam heong" and sweet & sour crab. These crab dishes are no where near those that we had in Perlama seafood. We ordered deep fried "mun tou" to go with the sweet and sour crab.

"Kam heong" lala and fried "tong fun".

Our total bill came up to RM440.00 which to me, was very expensive as we did not have any fish or prawn dishes apart from the 2 crab dishes.

Very disappointed as the quality has dropped and it's getting very pricey. For that price, we would have better choices at Perlama Seafood.

Sausage Platter
Been a while since my last meeting with ex-colleagues from GSK for drinks. Normally we will end up in Orient Express but this time, Rodney recommended this place to us...it is run by an ex-GSK marketing folk and we were told that food is good. We arranged the session on a Wednesday to avoid the Friday's crowd but to our surprise, the place was pretty packed.

Crispy Pork Knuckle
As usual, we ordered a number of dishes to share, family style. The waiter recommended:

Mixed Sausages Platter (Dynamite Chili, Chorizo, Pork Basic, Smoked Chicken, Potato Salad, Apple Sauce & Mustard; RM60++). Thumbs up for this dish. Great with beer.

Crispy Pork Knuckle (roasted potato, sour cabbage and apple mustard gravy; RM45++).

Spaghetti Carbonara, very creamy and the bacon bits gave it a nice smoky flavor. Thumbs up.

Chorizo & Bacon Pizza, pretty tasty. Choi Yen ordered salad which was also nice. On top of these dishes, we also had the usual stuff like french fries, deep fried mushroom and onion rings to go with beer.

To cap it off, the chef (Ken Tan) made us warm bread pudding, served with homemade ice cream. Really love the dessert and the ice cream :)

We were all pleased with the food and I'm sure we will come back again :)
