Nagomi Japanese Restaurant

Nagomi Japanese Restaurant
Jaya 33 Pg-02b Jalan Semangat, Petaling Jaya
TEL:  603-7956-2330

On my birthday, my hubby and I planned to go for Vietnamese food but when we reached Jaya 33, we change our plan and ended up at Nagomi Japanese Restaurant.

Actually, it was a good decision to change because food at Nagomi is really nice and reasonably priced.

I particularly like the salad dish. The dressing is yummy.

Will come back one day to try their shabu shabu.

Mike ordered Ebi Tempura and decided to take sushi from the sushi belt. He enjoyed his Ebi Tempura and salmon sushi.

The Kiku-Zakura outlet in TCM is very cosy. We were seated at the Japanese style dining area.

Beef Katsu
My hubby ordered Beef Katsu set which came with rice, miso soup, salad and fruits. Shared some of the beef katsu but didn't like it because it's too dry and not much taste on it's own.

Sukiyaki
I ordered Sukiyaki Set which came with rice, salad, miso soup and fruits. The sukiyaki came with lots of thinly sliced beef, white cabbage, tofu, tong ooh, onions, spring onions, carrot, mushroom and an egg. Tasty but still on the sweet side even though I've asked for less sweet.

Squid with Cucumber
Our appertizer was pickled squid and cucumber. A little soury but great as an appertizer.

Green Tea
Total bill for the evening came up to RM74.75 including cold green tea.

Chicken Teriyaki Set
Daidomon specializes in yakiniku (grilled meat) buffet but we did not go for the BBQ as it's lunch time and too rush for us. We ordered the set meals, shake teriyaki set and chicken teriyaki set. Later we found out that they also have buffet lunch which looks good but it was too late to cancel our order for the set lunch.

The set meal comes with refillable green tea, pickles, soup, tofu, salad, rice and fruits.

Will return one day to try the BBQ buffet.

Nippon Yataimura - Bandar Utama

Nippon Yataimura Japanese Restaurant
Lot LG352, Lower Ground Floor,
1 Utama Shopping Centre,
Lebuh Bandar Utama,
47800 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan
Tel: +603-77278380/ +603-77283389
Fax: +603-42923152

My hubby and I went to Bandar Utama over the Raya holidays. After shopping we decided to have Japanese food for lunch. We were undecided, walked pass many Japanese restaurants at the old wing and finally settled for Nippon Yataimura which is located on the lower ground floor in between the old and the new wing of the mall. They have refurbished the place, like their interior decorations especially the lanterns with cat on one side and Japanese words on the other.

Black Pepper Chicken Set
Sanma K'yaki Set
My hubby ordered the black pepper chicken set and I ordered sanma k'yaki (fish) set. Both the set meal comes with miso soup, chawanmushi,   salad and Japanese white rice (they actually use Japanese rice!).

Both sets are served on hot plate (which is not hot at all), big portions and on the sweet side. My hubby left his chawanmushi untouched. I left the miso soup untouched. We were so full after the meal and had to skip dinner that night.

Chawanmushi
Our total bill came up to RM42.00 including 2 cold refillable green tea. It's value for money but not so delicious.

Hokkaido A Gourmet's Delight

Hokkaido is home to a rich variety of foodstuffs and agricultural products. It's fertile soils produces potatoes, corn, asparagus and melons.

Yubari melons, sweet and juicy with their orange flesh, are prized throughout Japan as a premium brand. Freshly grilled corn on the cob are sold along Odori Park throughout the spring, summer, and autumn months.

Dairy products in Hokkaido are made with traditional skills and the cows are feed on a rich pasture. The long history of dairy farming in and around Sapporo has produced a legacy of first class butter, milk, ice cream and high quality chocolate.

Sapporo is a great place to find fresh seafood. Unlike traditional Japanese cuisine, Sapporo dishes rely on their simplicity and natural flavours of the ingredients. Crab, scallops, and salmon are local specialities and restaurants specializing in these delicacies are common in the city.

During my 5D4N stay in Hokkaido, I had a chance to try out a number of Hokkaido specialities from the following restaurants:

Marugoto Hokkaido Restaurant
Menu: Japanese set: salmon steak, potato, onion with sauce in toban, fish, tofu, vegetable with miso soup in nabe, squid sashimi, pickles, sashimi flakes, marinated squid in wasabi, grilled salmon, rice, fruit, tea, water

Yoyotei Restaurant
Menu: Mongolian BBQ: Genghiskhan BBQ Lamb, vegetables, rice, water, tea

Genghis Khan is a food you shouldn’t forget in Hokkaido. Lamb or mutton is broil with vegetables and washed down with beer. Best BBQ ever but be prepared to smell like BBQ after dinner.

Ore No Sapporo Restaurant
〒064-0807 北海道札幌市中央区南7条西6おれの札幌ビル
Oreno Sapporo Bldg. Minami 7-jyo Nishi 6, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido 064-0807
Menu: Eat-all-you-can 3 types of crabs, BBQ (pork, chicken, lamb), crab steamboat with mixed vegetables, starter, pickles, rice, dessert + free flow drinks (beer, sake, cola, orange juice, oolong tea, Calpis soda)

Hokkaido is called "kingdom of the crabs" because of the wide varieties found here including king crabs, hairy crabs and snow crabs. One species, called hanasaki, can only be caught on the eastern side of the island and is a rare treat. The crabs here are fresh, delicious and relatively cheap. Hairy crab has strong sweetness and steady texture. It’s usually boiled with some salt or broiled. The features of snow crab include elegant sweetness and sophisticated taste. King crab is characterized by its large size. Please note that crab shells must be put in a bowl on the table as it is misbehavior to throw them away on the floor.

Seaport Market Restaurant
Menu: Grilled fish: claypot (toban) with seafood and vegetables (fish, tofu, crab, mushroom, vegetables, glass noodle, prawn, scallop), Grilled Hokkei fish, sashimi, salmon flakes & seaweed, rice, tea

The speciality here is the Grilled Hokkei fish (Atka Mackerel) which is boiled with soy sauce and sugar, briefly dried into 'Hokke-no-hiraki' and grilled.

Kanigoten Restaurant
96-2 Aza Takeura Shiraoi-cho TEL 0144-87-3887 FAX 0144-87-3860
Menu: Salmon Nabe: steamboat in miso soup with salmon slices, udon, tofu, vegetables, rice, tea, water

Easily recognizable by the giant bear and hairy crab climbing on the roof. Utilized as a meal-stop by tour buses, this drive-in features a spacious restaurant and marine-produce shop that boast an abundant menu and wide range of stock.
