Le Baan Thai

After many days of Western food, we finally had an Asian (Thai) meal at Le Baan Thai. The  exterior of the restaurant is very cosy. As we were contemplating whether to have dinner at the restaurant, a gentlemen came out with some takeaway. We asked him about the food. He gave very good review and suggested that we try. I saw many Michelin award stickers at the main entrance. It was crowded and very difficult for us to get the waiter's attention. It took a while before one attends to us.

We ordered food to share...family style with white rice. We had mixed vegetable tofu, two different types of curries and prawn tom yum soup.

The prawn tom yum soup taste good but not spicy enough for me. Guess it's tailored for Westerners. A way from home and to have a chance to taste food that's familiar is always good even though not good enough :)

The green chicken curry was very tasty and authentic. The red duck curry was equally good.

Another great meal! So far away from home and still have the feel of home. Very happy.

Le Baan Thai allows owners of pets to bring in their pets while they dine. I'm not used to this culture. Unlike me (who kept quite even though I do not like seeing what I saw), Salman was complaining about it through out dinner.

Sri Siam Restaurant - SS2

Have not been to Bangkok for close to 5 months now and been craving for Thai food. Today, as we were driving past SS2, I saw Sri Siam back in business next to the old shop and I told my hubby that tonight's dinner will be at Sri Siam.

Sri Siam is now located at No. 56, SS2/24, 47300 Petaling Jaya....still the typical neighbourhood restaurant with minimal decor.

We ordered mixed seafood tom yam, "pla jaramed three tastes" and "four heavenly king" to go with white rice.

Mixed Seafood Tom Yam
The mixed seafood tom yam was great with rice but a little on the salty side. My hubby and I finished the tom yam soup despite the saltiness :)

Pla Jaramed Three Tastes
The "pla jaramed three tastes" is deep fried siakap with sweet, sour and spicy sauce. The siakap is very fresh and crispy. My favourite dish for the night.

Four heavenly King
The "four heavenly king" is petai, brinjal, long beans and four angled beans cooked with sambal belacan. It is "heavenly" as the name suggested.

Both my hubby and I enjoyed our dinner but I must still make sure I eat authentic Thai food next week when I'm on transit in Bangkok.

Seeri Authentic Thai Restaurant

Seeri Authentic Thai Restaurant
26 Jalan SS2/10, Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Tel: 03 7877 7659 / 012 3789618
GPS: N3 06.933 E101 37.006

Seeri Authentic Thai restaurant is located on the same row as Kayu Nasi Kandar, right beside Taiping Lang.

Fish Cake
Moey suggested that we (Kenny & I) meet up for dinner at this restaurant on Friday. Kenny was the first to arrive, I was late but Moey was worst. She arrived 2 hours later because it was pouring and every where was jammed.

Meang Kam
While waiting for Moey, we ordered "Meang Kam" (Thai salad) and "Tod Wan Pla" (fried fish cake) to munch.

"Meang Kam" is a simple but delicious appetiser. First, put the paste on the "daun gaduk", fold the "duan gaduk" and add the different shredded ingredients (shallots, lime, chili, lemongrass, roasted coconut and roasted peanuts). Enjoy the different flavors of the salad :) Go slow on the chili padi though...I can eat spicy food but the chili padi used for the "meang kam" is really "pedas".

Steam Seabass
"Pla Kapong Neung Manao" (steamed seabass with lime, garlic and chili padi). This dish was a "must try" dish on the menu. No regrets. We really liked this dish especially the soup which is slightly sweet, sourish and spicy. Yummy.

Green Curry Chicken
"Kheng Kiao Wan - Kai" (green curry - chicken). This dish is not too bad. I prefer red curry with duck but they do not serve that.

Mix Vege
We also ordered mix vegetable. After dinner, Moey and I go for dessert, "Tap Thin Krob" which I do not find nice...too much ice and coconut milk. What I liked though is the lemongrass tea. I had two glasses of that :)

Another great evening out with my best friends. They are always very supportive and concern about me. Friday was the 5th day I'm with my new company and it is great to have friends who care about how I am coping in the new place. Thanks Moey and Kenny. I know I can always count on you both :)

Lerk Thai - Setiawangsa Jusco AU2

Lerk thai offers a bountiful mix of authentic palace cuisine, hybrid fusion dishes and street food. With the plethora of dips and pastes used in their cuisine, food lovers can now explore a wider selection of culinary delights at Lerk Thai.

Located at Setiawangsa Jusco AU2, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 54200 TEL: 6016 210 0162, it is the nearest mall/Thai restaurant from my office and since KH wanted to go to the mall to draw cash, we decided to take lunch at Lerk thai AU2.

We ordered the set lunch menu for 4 person (RM79.90++) with comes with Tom Yum Seafood Clear Soup, Special Prawn Cake, Stir Fried Beef with Basil Leaf, Crispy Omelet with Crab meat, Fried Kangkung Belacan and white rice.

Tom Yum Seafood Clear Soup
The Tom Yum Seafood Clear Soup is cooked with lots of lemon grass. It served in individual bowl. Quite tasty but I still prefer the spicy Tom Yum soup.

Prawn Cake
The special Prawn Cake is great, especially if it's dipped with Thai chilli sauce and taken together with the shredded cabbage and carrot.

Stir Fried Beef with Basil Leaf
Simply love the Stir Fried Beef with Basil Leaf. Unfortunately KH does not eat beef :( Ernest and I had to clear this dish.

KangKung Belacan
The Kangkung Belacan is crunchy and not too spicy or salty. The Crab meat Omelet is also not too bad even though I could hardly see any crab meat.
Crispy Omelet with Crab Meat
Nice quite and air-conditioned place for lunch. Overall food was quite nice but a bit pricey as the dishes are simple dishes.

Lemon Grass Drink
Try the lemon grass drink. Apparently it's a good cleanser that helps to detoxify the liver, pancreas, kidney, bladder and the digestive tract. It is said to cut down uric acid, cholesterol, excess fats and other toxins in the body while stimulating digestion, blood circulation and lactation. Not sure about it's medical value but I simply love the drink.

myElephant - Happy Mansion PJ

myElephant is at C-G-4 Happy Mansion, Jalan 17/13, Section 17, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia
TEL: 6010 2201283

myElephant is located in the opposite block from 6 to 10. The place is very cozy and they serve healthy authentic Thai food.

Pandan Cooler
We ordered Pandan Cooler (RM3/glass). Very refreshing...pandan leaves (pine screw) boiled in water and served with some black seeds (don't know what it's called).

Seafood Tom Ka
The seafood tom ka is great. The soup is chock full with mushrooms, galangal, lemongrass, tomatoes and coriander. Semi sweet, cooked with a touch of coconut milk, one sip and we were hooked..."star" dish of the night.

Mixed Greens
Cannot say the same about the mix greens though.

Hom Malee + Brown Rice
Dinner is served with Jasmine Rice (Hom Malee) + Brown Rice (RM3/pax). Very healthy.

Total bill for the night came up to RM50.00. We will definitely come back and maybe with a bigger group so that we can try our more dishes.

Restaurant Saifon Thai

Restaurant Saifon Thai is located at 43A, Jalan Pandan Indah 4/6B, Pandan Indah 55100 Kuala Lumpur.
TEL: 603 42967525

We went looking for Restaurant Baan Nok but was told that the restaurant has moved next door (now known as Saifon Thai) from the first floor of Thai Market Font. Not sure whether Saifon Thai is the same as Baan Nok. When we asked for their name card, the lady boss gave us the name card with Restaurant Baan Nok printed on it. Anyway, when we were there for lunch, there were some Thai patrons. We assume that they must be serving authentic Thai food.

We had a hard time communicating with the captain. We asked him which dish is "aroi" (delicious), he was not able to recommend the dishes to order. We had to depend on the menu and settled for seafood tom yam, kerabu babi (mixture of minced meat with liver), deep fried prawns, fish fillet and fish maw kerabu, kailan with roast pork and fried siakap fish with spices.

The service was slow. The dishes were served one by one. The deep fried prawns, fish fillet and maw kerabu and the deep fried siakap with spices were served when we almost finished our rice. The biggest surprise was, the second seafood tom yam serving. I wonder why? My friends commented that because I was taking picture of the dishes, they might think I'm a food critic, that's why we were given the second serving.

Fried Prawn, Fish Fillet and Maw Kerabu
Seafood Tom Yam

Kailan with Roast Pork
Kerabu Babi

Deep Fried Siakap with Spices

The food were salty (especially Kerabu Babi) and very spicy. Some of us had upset tummy after the meal. Our total bill came up to RM110.00 including rice and water infused with pine screw (pandan) leave. They also sells precooked Thai dishes and BBQ chicken and pork outside the restaurant.
