Choong Kee Kampar Claypot Rice is a coffee-shop styled restaurant, located in between Dominos Pizza and Cinta Ria. They used to operate from Koon Kee Coffee Shop and they serve excellent Kampar claypot chicken rice, cooked on charcoal stoves (which is hard to come by these days). Chinese sausage and "mui heong ham yee" (salted fish) are added for extra oomph. Some likes to add an egg just before the rice is served. The base will be slightly burnt but the smell ain't that strong and it's what gives claypot chicken rice the distinctive flavour.

Yau Choy

Apart of claypot chicken rice, they also offers a variety of "yau choy" (green vegetable with oyster sauce) and steam soup.

The restaurant is usually jam packed during weekends. Go early to avoid the peak hours. We normally plan what to order and head towards the counter to place our order (you need to order from the counter). Do not go if you don't have the patience to wait. Do not try to negotiate or chase for your order as the lady owner can be very rude. It is very normal to hear screaming at her Indonesian workers or her husband and son who are busy cooking at the back of the restaurant - Malaysian drama when busy is too good :(
