Perlama Seafood Restaurant - South Port, Klang.

Perlama Seafood Restaurant is located at No. 6, Jalan Tangki, Off Jln Kem (quite near to South Port), 42000 Port Klang, Selangor.
TEL: 6012 3319908
Payment Terms: Cash Only

We decided to have an early Chinese New Year reunion dinner at Perlama Seafood Restaurant as my sister-in-law and her hubby are back in KL. This place is highly recommended by my brother-in-law, Randy and his wife, Grace.

This year's CNY reunion dinner is different from the other years. We did not go for the traditional Chinese New Year menu but opt for seafood dishes. We ordered 3 different types of crabs:

Sweet and Sour Crab
Sweet and sour crab. We had fried buns to go with it. Yummy.

Salted Egg Crab
Salted egg crab. Everyone's favorite crab dish for the night.

Black Pepper Crab
Black pepper crab. This dish is "so so" only.

To go with rice, we had:

Stir Fried Tee Hwang Mew
Stir Fried "Tee Huang Mew". This dish is really delicious. Very crunchy and smooth.

Assam Stingray
Assam Stingray. Like this dish as the stingray is really fresh. The sauce is with the right level of sourness.

Steam Pomfret
We ordered steam pomfret for my hubby and Michael who are not supposed to take the stingray because of their recent operations.

However, they hardly touch this dish and I ended eating most of it. Not complaining as the pomfret is very fresh and the sauce is great with rice.

Nestum Mantis Prawns
Nestum Mantis Prawns...Ryan's favorite dish. I like it too especially the Nestum and the curry leaves. Great with rice.

Steam Lala
Steam Lala...this dish must be taken while it's hot. I think it's cooked with wine.
Deep Fried Pork Knuckle
Deep Fried Pork Knuckle. The meat is very tender. The dipping is nice but I would prefer it with plum sauce.

Tofu with Special Sauce
Tofu with special sauce. The topping is very delicious. Great with rice and porridge too.

Fried Tang Hoon
For those who did not want rice, Grace ordered fried "Tang Hoon". I did not try the fried "Tang Hoon" as I was really full.

Our total bill came up to RM320 (our party is 13 pax) including drinks (young coconuts and soft drink). We will definitely come back as their seafoods are fresh and very tasty. We will also come earlier so that we can enjoy the riverside view and watch the sunset.

Kavitha's Curry House - Petaling Garden, PJ

274, Jalan 5/51,
Petaling Jaya,
46000, Selangor
Tel : 03-77838441
Opening Hours : 6.30am - 12.30am

Restaurant Kavitha's & Curry House in Petaling Garden is a favourite banana leaf joint for many and for me too when I was with J&J.
Banana Leaf Rice
Like many other traditional South Indian eateries, it gives each customer part of a banana leaf and serves three or four vegetable dishes. The condiments are then added and these include an ikan bilis sambal, lemon acar, deep-fried bitter gourd and fried salted chili. To these are added rice and a choice of curries....dhal, chicken, fish or salted fish.

Chicken
To this basic fare, you can add an array of curries (ranging from lamb tripe to fish roe, fish head to mutton rendang) and fried seafood and chicken.

Mutton
After shopping with sister and her kids, we dropped in at Kavitha's for a late lunch.

Fried Chicken
We ordered the ready cooked chicken and mutton curry, freshly fried fish (2 different types of fish) and chicken.

My nephew tried rasam and likes the drink. I've never learn to acquire the taste though.

Rasam
The total bill for our party of 6 came up to RM64.00 including ice lemon tea. Very satisfying meal as I've not eaten at Kavitha's for a long time.

The Indonesian/Malay lady who used to serve us when I patronized Kavitha's during my J&J days is still working there. Service was excellence.

Chong Fatt Seafood Restaurant - Setapak

Today, Fiona and Raymond bought me farewell lunch at Chong Fatt Seafood Restaurant. According to Fiona and Raymond, the food here is very good and I totally agree with them.

We leave the ordering of food to Fiona as she frequently patronize the restaurant. We had the following dishes with white rice:

Venison with Pickled Vegetable
Venison with pickled mustard (hum choy)...the venison meat is very tender and the hum choy is not salty. Great combination.

Pork Knuckle
Yun Thai (pork knuckle) with siew pak choy and mushroom. The meat is very tender and the sauce is great with rice. Yum Yum.

Bamboo Pit with Mushroom
Bamboo pit with enoki mushroom, shitake mushroom and broccoli. A Cantonese dish?

Soya Bean curd with Special Sauce
Soya bean curd with special sauce. The bean curd is deep fried but it's soft and smooth inside. The topping is very fragrant and crunchy. Another great dish with rice.

The restaurant give free fresh fruit for dessert. Thanks Fiona/Raymond. This is another great meal with good company. I'm sure we will be back to try their other exotic dishes and seafood :)

Bumbu Desa - KLCC

Bumbu Desa the authentic Indonesian restaurant that is tantalising Malaysia, is on the fourth floor of Suria KLCC. Their menu, with its traditional Indonesian recipes, is set to tickle the taste buds with spice appeal.

A selection from the different dishes on display can be made, as large or small as you wish. Haha..it's not a buffet spread!

White Rice
My team and I were at Bumbu Desa KLCC for my farewell lunch. Yes, I'm leaving on Feb 18 to pursue other opportunities. Oyah ordered a number of dishes and all the dishes taste great.

We had rice, served in a very traditional aluminium pot which reminds me of my kampung childhood days. To go with rice we had:

Cumi Goreng
Cumi Goreng (deep-fried squid marinated in turmeric paste). Nice and fragrant.

Rendang Daging
Rendang Daging (a traditional Minangkabau dish)...slow cooked and tenderized beef in coconut milk and spices.

Ayam Pok
Ayam Pop (a Padang dish)...a dual process skinless chicken dish (steamed and then deep fried).

Ayam Bakar (a Sundanese dish)...grilled marinated chicken with sweet soya sauce. This dish came last and I did not manage to snap a picture of it (too busy eating) but trust me, it is very delicious.

Gulai Ayam
Gulai Ayam ( a Padang dish)...yellow chicken curry. Looks like ordinary curry but the taste is heavenly. Full of flavour.

Fried Talapia
Marinated deep fried talapia with special sauce. Crispy and crusty and yet juicy!

Sambal
The star of the day is the "sambal". It's spicy but gives a special kick.

Even their drinks are special. I had orange coconut, a freshly squeezed orange drink mixed with young coconut flesh. My first time having such drink. They also serve the usual avocado drink.

Mei Keng Fatt Seafood - Ampang

Mei Keng Fatt Seafood located at 1 Lorong Awan 6, Kuala Ampang, 68000 Ampang, Selangor is very popular with the locals, expatriates living around the area as well Hong Kong movie stars. They offer a wide array of dishes but their most popular dish is crab.

I've been working in Ulu Kelang for more than 4 years now but today is my first time eating lunch at Mei Keng Fatt. I was told they are very expensive!

We ordered "yee sang", seafood tom yum, squids in lime sauce and "sei tai thin wong" for our party of 3.

Yee Sang
Yusheng , yee sang or yuu sahng (simplified Chinese: 鱼生; pinyin: yúshēng), also known as lo hei (Cantonese for 撈起 or 捞起) is a Teochew-style raw fish salad. It usually consists of strips of raw fish (most commonly salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients. Yusheng literally means "raw fish" but since "fish (鱼)" is commonly conflated with its homophone "abundance (余)", Yúshēng (鱼生) is interpreted as a homophone for Yúshēng (余升) meaning an increase in abundance. Therefore, yusheng is considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor.

I love Yee Sang. Can eat it every day, through out Chinese New Year. I'll normally request for less oil and less sweet.

Seafood Tom Yum
When I ordered tom yum seafood, Alvin scolded me and said I was crazy to order Tom Yum in a Chinese seafood restaurant. To our surprise, their tom yum is really delicious. There were prawns, squid, chicken meat and the soup is just right, not too sour nor too spicy.

Squid in Lime Sauce
The squid in lime sauce is really good. The squid is cut into bite sizes, blanched and mixed with lots of lime juice, shallots, finely cut lemon grass and chillies. Very appetising.

Sei Tai Thin Wong
The "sei tai thin wong" is four different type of vegetables (long beans, four angled beans, brinjals and okra) cooked with chili/dried prawn paste.

Lunch at Mei Keng Fatt was not cheap but will come back for their crab dishes one day.

Kenny, Moey and I love eating at Pizza Uno. When the girls (Kenny's Angels) wanted to celebrate Kenny's special birthday (January 11, 2011...11111) the venue is of course, Pizza Uno at Centre Point, Bandar Utama.

Pizza Uno is a mid-priced Italian family restaurant with great food and friendly service. Parking is easy and free after 6pm. By the time we arrived, the restaurant is already quite busy.

We had Champinones con Ajo and burschetta for starter.

Champinones con Ajo

Champinones con Ajo is mushrooms cook in garlic, chilli, & olive oil served with homemade bread. Ordered 2 rounds of the same. Yum Yum.

Burschetta
The burschatta is served with freshly cut tomato and sauteed mushroom, on lightly toasted bread with olive oil & herbs.

Oglio Olio with Grilled Prawns
For our main meal, we ordered Oglio Olio with grilled prawns, our favorite dish. Call us boring people or old faithful :) We also ordered a Romeo Special (pizza) to share.

Uno's Heavenly Hazel Nut Cheese Cak
For dessert, we ordered Uno's heavenly hazel nut cheese cake to share. The cake is delicious.

Dinner was great and we really enjoyed ourselves...talking about good old time, things with our life and discussing our Feb. 12th CNY gathering plans.

Restoran You Lee, Dai Be 大鼻, Taman Connaught, Cheras

大鼻 Dai Be steam fish head stall is in You Lee Restaurant in Taman Connaught. Located same row with Domino’s Pizza and Restoran Sun Ming (famous for the roasted duck); Restoran You Lee will be at the corner end.

Ginger Steam Fish Head
We frequent this stall quite often as we find their dishes tasty and reasonable priced. Their menu is limited but the place is always crowded at lunch time. They offer 4 types of Steamed Fish Heads:

◦Signature steam - with chinese wine
◦Ginger steam
◦Preserved vegetable steam
◦Fermented bean paste steam - infused with some Thai style

Fermented Bean Paste Steam Fish Head
We ordered the ginger and the fermented bean paste steam fish head and stir fried nai pak. The vegetable dish is okay but it's the steam fish head that we liked the most.

Mixed Yong Tau Fu
Try the Yong Tau Fu from the stall in the same restaurant. Very tasty and reasonably priced too.

Another satisfying lunch with my lunch buddies.

Mixed Yong Tau Foo
3A YTF is a halal yong tau foo restaurant, a place where you can bring your Muslim friends to. If you do not fancy yong tau foo, there is also a wide selection of noodles and vege/meat/seafood dishes on their menu.

Fried FuChok and Siew Kow
We ordered mix yong tau foo, deep fried fu chok and sui kow. The yong tau foo taste is not too bad but no where near the yong tau foo in Ampang area. They have also increased their prices. Used to RM0.80/pieces but it's now RM1.00/piece.

Curry Chee Cheong Fun
I used to like their curry chee cheong fun (...they have the black sauce chee cheong fun too) but the quality has dropped since my last trip which was many months ago.

Fu Chok Barley Gingko
I had fu chok barley with gingko for dessert. Liked the fu chok barley gingko as it was not too sweet.

Michael's Western Food - Kuan Yew Coffee Shop SS3 PJ

Menu
Looking for cheap and fuss free western food? Try the corner coffee shop (Kuan Yew) at Jalan SS3/31, SS3 Kelana Jaya (just right behind Hup Soon Western Food).
GPS : N03 05.671" E101 36.699"
Business Hours: 5.30pm to 10pm.

The Boss?
We were at Michael's for New Year day's dinner with Randy, Ryan and Grace. The coffee shop was very packed when we arrived. Had to wait a while before getting a table. Looks like this is the place where the neighbourhood uncles meet to have beers.

Upon ordering, we were given a plastic cup with the alphabet D. I was told that this is how they manage the orders.

Mexican Chicken
We ordered Mexican Chicken as this dish was highly recommended by Ryan. The chicken which is very tender, is served with french fries, cucumber, coleslaw and lots of gravy cooked with mixed vegetables (onions, corn, green peas and carrot).

Sirloin Steak
My hubby ordered Sirloin Steak. Took a bite and to my surprise, it's very tasty. The steak, topped with a slightly thick garlicky sauce was tender and juicy and the best part, it's only RM12.00. Great value for money.

Dinner was great, very affordable and what we like about the meal was the portion which was just right for us. Do not expect posh ambiance like in most western dining places.

There are other food choices if you do not fancy western food. There is a stall selling satay, Indian food and "tai chow" too.  The "tai chow" is not bad. Tried it the last time when Michael's is closed.
