Esquire Kitchen

Esquire Kitchen
ATRIA SHOPPING
Lot 10 & 11, Ground Floor,
Jalan SS 22 / 23, Damansara Jaya,
47400 Petaling Jaya

Esquire Kitchen has been around in KL for a long time. Dining in Esquire Kitchen reminds me of my experience with Dim Sum restaurants in Hong Kong and San Francisco Chinatown....poor service, rude waiters and waitresses.

Stir Fried French Beans
Each time we dine in, we tell ourselves that this will be the last meal but somehow, we will go back when we have forgotten about the service or when we crave for their specialties...."soft and fluffy" Flower Buns, 'Tung Po Meat', Stir Fried French Beans and Shanghainese Wo Tip.

Tung Po Meat
Tung Po Meat is a must try! Succulent slices of meat intricately cooked and fused with Chef’s special sauce. Great with the soft and fluffy Flower Buns or white rice.

Tofu
"Cooked from the Heart, serve from the Soul"?

I can only agree that food is cooked from the Heart as their food is yummy, especially the Tung Po Meat but serve from the Soul? Nay....service really sucks in all the outlets that I've been to...Sungai Wang, Bandar Utama as well as Atria.

Restaurant Bak Kut Teh Yap Chuan - Bukit Raja Klang

Lee San, SA and I, met Yen Peng in Bukit Raja, Klang for Bak Kut Teh to celebrate my birthday. So sweet of them :)

This is my first time eating at the Restaurant Bak Kut Teh Yap Chuan. If I'm not mistaken, they have another shop in Puchong which has been featured by Ah Xian http://blog.axian788.com/?p=334/ . Check out their website.

We ordered a pot of dry Bak Kut Teh (干肉骨茶), a pot of the traditional Bak Kut Teh, yau choy and yau char kuey.

Dry Bak Kut Teh
The dry Bak Kut Teh (干肉骨茶) is a must try.

Soupy Bak Kut Teh
The traditional Bak Kut Teh is not bad too. The soup is thick.

Thanks Lee San, SA and Yen Peng for introducing this place to me and for celebrating my birthday.

After our Bak Kut Teh session, we swing by Klang Food Centre to buy steamed bun and as usual, I bought > 70 buns (mui choi, kau yok and choi pau) to share with my neighbor and my sister. Another great Saturday out with my buddies :)

Nagomi Japanese Restaurant

Nagomi Japanese Restaurant
Jaya 33 Pg-02b Jalan Semangat, Petaling Jaya
TEL:  603-7956-2330

On my birthday, my hubby and I planned to go for Vietnamese food but when we reached Jaya 33, we change our plan and ended up at Nagomi Japanese Restaurant.

Actually, it was a good decision to change because food at Nagomi is really nice and reasonably priced.

I particularly like the salad dish. The dressing is yummy.

Will come back one day to try their shabu shabu.

FU KUA RESTAURANT 苦瓜潮洲菜馆

FU KUA RESTAURANT 苦瓜潮洲菜馆
Unit 19, Jalan SS23/15,
Taman S.E.A.,
47400, Petaling Jaya
GPS Location : N3 06.971 E101 36.736
Business Hour : 11am to 3pm and 5.30pm to 11pm

Bitter gourd or Fu Kua (Cantonese) has a lot of advantages and this restaurant sells everything bitter gourd including drinks. My hubby is not a fan of bitter gourd so we seldom patronize this restaurant. Today is one of the days when my hubby will entertain me and agree to have a "fu kua" dinner.

Fu Kua with Honey
I ordered the fu kua with honey drink while my hubby happily stick to his Coke. The fu kua with honey is a bit bitter unlike the ones I had in Taiwan. My first disappointment for the night.

Fu Kua with Pork Knuckle
We ordered fu kua with salted egg and fu kua with pork knuckle to go with rice. Both the dishes are also not up to our expectation. Another disappointment.

Fu Kua with Salted Egg
So sad because after tonight's experience, my hubby may not entertain me and go back to the restaurant. We used to order their famous siew yok and fu kua with fish but today, we decided to order something different. Wrong decision sob...sob...sob. Our disappointing meal cost RM47.50.

Penang Mee Goreng
My hubby and his brother are die hard mee goreng and mee rebus fans. So! Here we are, having mee goreng for brunch at Asia Cafe Kota Damansara. This place was recommended by a friend.

Mee Goreng
We finally found an authentic Penang mee goreng place where we can go to whenever we crave for Penang mee goreng. The stall owner claims that he was from Air Itam and his father is the owner of the mee goreng stall near Air Itam roundabout.

Mee Rebus
We also ordered mee rebus which unfortunately is just okay. The gravy is very diluted and not up to our expectation.

If you are not into mee goreng or mee rebus, there are many different stalls selling different types food as well.

This outlet is very clean and airy, unlike the outlet in Subang Jaya. Great place to bring foreign guests to try local hawker food. A new hangout and makan place for everyone!

有骨气 Bone & Pot

有骨气 Bone & Pot
No:88, SS21/61 47400 Damansara Utama PJ

We celebrated Mellisa's birthday at 有骨气 Bone & Pot. Initially I thought Bone & Pot is a Bak Kut Teh's place but it turned out to be a steamboat place. Should have guessed because Octrine is our steamboat queen.

Signature Pork Bone Broth
The essence of steamboat is in its soup. Here at Bone & Pot, they claimed that they fully understand this maxim. That's why they use only the freshest bones mixed with their secret ingredients cooked over fire for more than eight hours to bring out the heavenly fragrance and flavour.

Freshly Made Ingredients
Our pot of broth comes with pieces of big bones and corns. Very sweet and yet we are not thirsty after drinking the soup.

Freshly Made Stuffed Tau Foo Pok
Good soup must go with freshly made steamboat ingredients.

At Bone & Pot, the ingredients are made and served on order to ensure freshness in every bite.

Steamboat Dipping Sauces

Naturally there are three things that make a good steamboat meal...the soup base, freshly made ingredients and the dipping sauce.
The "foo yee" sauce is highly recommended by Octrine. A bit on the salty side though. My personal choice is the super spicy chili sauce.

We had a great time at 有骨气 Bone & Pot. Thanks to our steamboat queen :)
