Today, Alvin brought us to new place for lunch. Ecoba Bar and Restaurant is set amidst lush garden that offers delectable dining options in the heart of Klang Valley. According to Alvin said is a very happening place in PJ now.

Since it's lunch time on a working day, we only want lunch and to our surprise, they have a three course meal which cost RM15.00 nett (with a choice of 4 different menus) including bottomless ice lemon tea. Value for money right?

Tomato Basil Salsa with Tortilla Skin
Alvin's had tomato basil salsa with fried tortilla skin for starter. Nice but a bit salty (must be the diced olives).

Curry Fish
His main course was curry fish with white rice. Nothing to shout about but Alvin enjoyed it.

Sweet Chara
Dessert was vanilla ice cream with sweet chara. Did not like the texture of the sweet chara (some gluing tasteless stuff when you bite into it!).

Minestrone Alla Cortadina
KH had minestrone Alla Cortadina soup for starter. KH was very happy after taking the soup. Now I understand why people say drinking soup warms the heart :)

Pan Fried Chicken Breast
His main course was pan fried chicken breast with french fries and some not so fresh looking greens.

Apple Ketayap
Dessert was vanilla ice cream with apple ketayap. Nice! A great combination of sourish apple wrapped in crepe with the sweetness of the ice cream.

Potato Leek Soup
I had the potato leek soup for starter. Nice and warm, portion is just right.

Black and White Carbonara
Main course was black and white carbonara with lots of cream sauce. Taste great.

Mango Fritters
Dessert was chocolate ice cream with mango fritters. The mango frittters was great but I'm not a fan of chocolate ice cream.

The lunch crowd was not too bad. Great place to eat, ogle and chill a bit since lunch time is always a rush :)

Jarrod & Rawlins @ The Amp Walk, Ampang

Set Lunch Menu
Lot G08B, Grd Flr, The Amp Walk, 218 Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur
Tel: 03 2166 0708 Fax: 032166 7708

Jarrod and Rawlins is having a 3 course set lunch promotion for RM24 nett at their branch at The Amp Walk, Ampang. Alvin had been to their Hartamas branch and like their food. Since KH and I have not been to any of their outlet, we decided to give the set lunch a try.

Pumpkin Soup
Pumpkin soup which came with bacon bits and croutons was our starter. Not too bad for taste. Love the bacon bits.

Spicy Roast Pork Oglio Olio
For main course, KH and I ordered the spicy roast pork aglio olio with vegetables (capsicum and zucchini), garlic and wine reduction. The portion is just nice and the pasta is very tasty, a nice combination of East and West.

Seared White Fish Fillet
Alvin ordered seared white fish fillet with sauteed potatoes and creamy tomato salsa. Looks good but portion maybe too little for Alvin :) Another satisfying lunch before we bid 2010 goodbye :)

The outlet manager (Kumar) came to ask whether we are from the same line i.e. F&B as he saw me taking pictures of the food in the chillers. When we told him our office is nearby, he offered to give us complimentary membership cards but he went on to tell us that he ran out of forms. Sorry, no complimentary card, not so lucky after all :(

Selection of Cheese
Selection of Sausages
Check out their chillers. They have a wide selection of cheese, sausages and meat cut. Pick your choice and have them cook it for you or buy the sausages home and cook it yourself. I bought some for breakfast.

Sakae Sushi - Sunway Carnival Mall Seberang Perai

UG-28, Sunway Carnival Mall, 3068, Jalan Todak, Pusat Bandar Seberang Jaya
13700 Seberang Jaya,
Pulau Pinang MY
TEL: 603-2287 1535

We (Dad and my nephew, Mike) were at Sakae Sushi, Sunway Carnival Mall for Christmas Eve dinner.

Gozen Set
Dad ordered the gozen set. The main dish was scallop kimchi soup which Dad did not like :( and there was just too many side dishes. We had to help Dad finish his food. Luckily we did not order the set meal for everyone.

Mike ordered Ebi Tempura and decided to take sushi from the sushi belt. He enjoyed his Ebi Tempura and salmon sushi.

Our total bill came up to RM104.00 including drinks (cold and hot green tea). Check out their website http://www.sakaesushi.com.my/

Che Go Korean BBQ - AEON Bandar Perda Bukit Mertajam

Was in Kulim for Christmas...took my Dad and nephew, Mike to Che Go Korean BBQ for a late lunch. There are a few BBQ sets ranging from RM78 to RM168 which includes a few dishes but since it's a late lunch and Dad's first attempt with Korean food, we did not go for the set. We ordered food which is close to Chinese food for Dad to try.

Chicken Teriyaki
Dad ordered teriyaki chicken set which came with a plate of kimchi, fried bitter gourd with egg, watermelon and a bowl of seaweed miso soup.

Bibimbap
Mike ordered bibimbap which also came with kimchi, apple salad, watermelon and seaweed miso soup.

Seafood Pancake
I ordered the seafood pancake to share. The pancake reminds me of what my late grandmother's sweet "mee hoon kueh".

Mike and I enjoyed our meal but we are not sure whether Dad enjoyed his since this is his first attempt with Korean food. I love their kimchi. Must come back to try the BBQ set.

Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie - off Jalan Imbi, KL

Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie is located at No7, Jalan Delima, Off Jalan Imbi, 55100 Kuala Lumpur.
TEL: 603 21426611
Self-service

This place was recommended by Alvin and we were there for our Christmas/year-end lunch. Housed in a spacious colonial bungalow with high ceilings and aristocratic feel, really beautiful, classy and cosy. The place was crowded when we arrive but we managed to get a table on the first floor. Parking was a problem as all the car parks were taken and we had to park at a side lane and walk a bit.

Menu
Levain Boulangerie’s unique offering is it’s stone oven baked pastries. The minute you walk in, you are greeted with nice smell of the pastries.

Turkey Ham and Eggs
Rodney ordered Turkey ham and eggs, a soft bun topped with turkey ham, scrambled eggs and melted cheese plus a tuna mushroom pizza. Took a tiny bit from Rodney and yum, both the choices tasted so good.

Apart from pastries, they also offer hot meals.
Seafood Pasta
KH ordered seafood pasta (RM 9.90), angel hair pasta in thick creamy seafood sauce, prawns, tiny squids and scallops slices, accompanied with fresh greens and slices of crunchy bread.

Spaghetti Napolitan
Alvin and I ordered spaghetti Napolitan (RM9.90), pasta in tomato ketchup sauce, chicken sausage, fresh enoki, capsicum & Parmesan cheese, accompanied with fresh greens and slices of crunchy bread.

Seafood Oglio-olio
Ernest ordered seafood Oglio-olio (RM9.90), pasta cooked with olive oil, chili flakes, prawns, squid & fresh fish fillet, accompanied with fresh greens and slices of crunchy bread.

Creamy Mushroom Chicken Soup
We ordered four bowls of creamy mushroom chicken soup (RM6.90 each). We were shocked to see the super size bowl and soup portion. Very delicious but we could not finish as the portion is really big and we had over ordered.

Their pastries look and smell good. Rodney and I bought some to take away. Check-out their Face Book page for more pictures of their pastries.

Levain's prices are a real STEAL. Great place, great food and great company. Nice way to end the year.

Restoran Cosy Corner - Taman Cheras (Yulek)

Menu & Pricing Board
Restoran Cosy Corner is located at No.113, Block P/F, Jalan KasKas, Tmn Cheras, 56000 Kuala Lumpur. It is a little corner shop below the lost cost flats. Their sign board looks like May King's in Jalan Yew/ Pudu (MKP Lam Mee). Are they related?

This coffee shop serves a number of dishes; prawn mee, curry mee, noodle soup and etc. but their most famous dish of all is none other than Lam Mee.

Hokkien Mee with Fat Noodle
Choi Yen and I ordered Hokkien mee. Choi Yen's came with only meehoon and mine with fat yellow noodles. This is my first time eating Hokkien mee with fat noodles. The taste is not too bad but pretty pricey...RM6.50 for the bowl of noodle :(

Lam Mee
Kuah and Yuit Meng ordered the famous Lam Mee. Their Lam Mee came with fat noodles, bean sprout, chicken strips and prawns in brown starchy soup base. Very different from Penang's Lam Mee. Must try this dish the next time I come back.

Curry Mee
Rodney ordered curry mee which looks good too.

Fu Chok and Sui Kow
We also ordered Yong Tow Foo. Their Yong Tow Foo menu is not very extensive.

Yong Tow Foo
We ordered deep fried Fu Chok, deep fried Sui Kow, bittergourd, chilli and some fish ball. The Yong Tow Foo taste good but rather expensive. Each piece cost RM1.00. Our total bill came up to RM50.50 including drinks.

Korea Restaurant GoMoNe - Ampang Point

Not the high end type of restaurant
Apart from Yong Tow Foo, Ampang is also famous for Korean food. The place is also known to many as Korean Village as there is a big Korean community and many Korean restaurants in Ampang.

If you are looking for a halal Korean restaurant (most are not), check out Korea Restaurant GoMoNe which is located inside Ampang Point shopping complex next to Taiwan House.

Dak Bulgogi Set
Korea Restaurant GoMoNe
Lot F32, 2nd Floor,
Ampang Point Shopping Centre,
Jalan Mamanda 3, Ampang
Business Hours: Opens daily from 11am - 9pm

Dak Bulgogi
Korea Restaurant GoMoNe is famous for their bibimbap but I normally go for the Dak Bulgogi (닭불고기), Korean Spicy and Sweet Chicken BBQ which comes with white rice, kimchi and stir fried spinach. Yummy! A complete meal that cost only RM13.00.

Kimchi Jjigae
Alvin ordered Kimchi Jjigae set which I believe must be delicious as he finished all the soup. His set comes with white rice, kimchi and stir fried spinach.

Lunch was only RM26.00 with free flow of Roibos tea. Highly recommended. Friendly service. Food is delicious and cheap. The shop is run by a Korean lady and some foreign workers.

The Steamboat Sdn. Bhd - Ikano Power Centre, PJ

I love taking steamboat and the usual way of eating steamboat is to have a central hotpot where everyone share food from the same pot. At The Steamboat Sdn. Bhd, steamboat experience is pretty unique as each customer is given an individual pot of soup. There are three choices for the soup base i.e. "ching thong" (clear soup), tom yum or curry.

Slice Beef Set
My hubby ordered the sliced beef set with tom yum soup. His set came with thinly sliced beef, beef ball, foo chok, lettuce, bee hoon and mee.

Mix Fish Ball Set
I ordered mix fish ball set with tom yum soup. My set came with 2 types of fish ball, fish cake, foo chok, crab stick, lettuce, bee hoon and mee.

Tom Yum Steamboat
To enjoy the meal, just drop all the ingredients into the pot filled with your choice of soup base, bring it to a boil and dip the cooked food with the special chilly sauce or fried shallot oil.

Total bill for our lunch came up to RM29.00 including 2 soft drinks. Simple but delicious meal. They serve ala-carte dishes as well.

The Steamboat Sdn, Bhd is located at 38 LG, Ikano Power Center, No.2, Jln PJU 7/2, Mutiara Damansara, 47800 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. TEL: 603 77223286

Ribs@Oasis Restaurant - Bandar Utama, PJ

Ribs@Oasis is a small neighborhood restaurant located in the vicinity of Bandar Utama. Nested between the famous 1 Utama shopping complex and the community shopping centre of Centre Point, the restaurant is housed within the BU4 Oasis complex situated next to the BU4 residential entrance. In spite of the prime location, parking is a breeze as there are abundant parking spaces in and around the complex.

Lot 1-1, BU 4, Jalan Changkat Bandar Utama, Oasis Complex No.1, 47800 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Tel: 03 7729 8921
Website: http://ribs-oasis.webs.com/

Uncle Chan, Mellisa, Mike, Yau and myself had early Christmas dinner at Ribs@AOasis, the place that specialties in pork ribs, pork loin, pork burgers, pasta and many more. This place was recommended by Octrine.

BBQ Ribs
We ordered Ribs (BBQ and Honey Mustard), Grilled Belly Oriental and Fisherman's platter for main courses and for starters, we ordered wild mushroom soup (made from fresh mushroom and herbs blended and concocted to perfection), sauteed mushroom and french fries to munch while waiting for everyone to arrive.

Ribs with Honey Mustard
Ribs@Oasis as the name implies, serves juicy western style baby back pork ribs and grilled pork on a bed of roasted or mesh potatoes.

Grilled Belly Oriental

Initally, we were the only diners but as the night gets longer, more and more people came in. We noticed that most people order salad, pork burger and pasta which I believe must be good too.

Fisherman's Platter

Total bill came up to RM268 for our party of 5 including two rounds of drinks. I must say the price is pretty reasonable as the portion is really big.

We had a great time catching up with one another.

OldTown White Coffee

OldTown White Coffee is the largest kopitiam chain in Malaysia. They are famous for white coffee especially the “Cham” or better known as YingYong. "Cham" is actually coffee mix with tea and I like the iced version. They do sell the coffee powder too.

OldTown White Coffee Menu
Their menu has expanded but their all time favourites are still the soft-boiled omega eggs and charcoal toasted bread with kaya and butter. We ordered one set to share but Alvin finished most of it even though he kept saving he has no appetite.

Nasi Lemak Special
The other favourite is Nasi Lemak Special. Tan and I ordered a set each. Was the nasi lemak really special? Nay...to me it's just ordinary nasi lemak.

Dry Ipoh Hor Fun
Alvin ordered dry Ipoh Hor Fun.

Our total bill came up to RM43.00. OldTown White Coffee can be found in many malls around Malaysia as well as in KL and Kucing International Airport.
